The All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Prevention of Genocide and Crimes Against Humanity brings together MPs and Peers from across the political parties to collaborate on harnessing the power and influence of parliament to ensure the UK fulfils its moral and legal obligations to prevent genocide.

Co-Chairs: Fleur Anderson MP (Labour) and Lord Sheikh (Conservative).

Vice-Chairs: Lord Alderdice (Liberal Democrat), Feryal Clark MP (Labour), Lyn Brown MP (Labour), Lord McConnell (Labour)

The APPG’s objectives are to:

  • Convene cross-party collaboration on ensuring that the United Kingdom does all it can to prevent genocides and crimes against humanity;
  • Connect cross-party parliamentarians with civil society and academic experts in the field;
  • Increase the flow of independent information and analysis to British Parliamentarians about genocide and crimes against humanity;
  • Support Parliamentarians so as to increase the effectiveness of their scrutiny of government, and;
  • Promote understanding of the importance of long-term and upstream approaches to genocide prevention.
